Article 69. Approval of water intake limits
Water Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan · Date: 30.07.2025 · In force
Water intake limits are approved:
by the order of the Ministry of Water Resources of the Republic of Uzbekistan based on the forecast of the Agency for Hydrometeorological Service;
by the orders of the Ministry of Water Resources of the Republic of Karakalpakstan and the basin administrations of irrigation systems;
by the decisions of the Councils of Peopleʼs Deputies of districts (cities) in agreement with the district agricultural department (Kuvasay city department).
To set the water intake limit for growing agricultural crops, water users must apply in written or electronic form to the water supply organizations that serve them one month before the start of the growing and autumn-winter periods, and for other needs besides irrigated agriculture — by September 1 of each year, and must submit the following documents:
permits for special water use (for water intake from natural water sources);
water supply schedules approved in the prescribed manner (with the exception of water users of the water supply system — drinking and domestic water supply).
Water intake limits shall reflect the total volume of water intake by authorized water sources (river, stream, spring, reservoir, irrigation system, main canal (system), irrigation and collector network, underground waters, and other water sources) and should be distributed for each ten-day period by specific water intake locations.
When setting water intake limits, the priority of the sector of the economy and the equal supply of water to all water users must be observed, taking into account the expected water level of the separate water sources and irrigation systems.
