Article​​​​​​​ 157. Main principles and directions of international cooperation in the field of water relations

The Republic of Uzbekistan carries out cooperation in the field of water use and conservation on the basis of universally recognized principles and norms of international law, as well as the international agreements of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The main directions of international cooperation of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the field of water use and conservation are the following:

the fulfillment of the international agreements of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the field of water use and conservation;

the protection of the national interests of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the field of the use and conservation of transboundary waters and water objects, as well as the environment;

the ensuring of water security of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the development of mutually beneficial cooperation on issues of the joint use of the water resources of the region and interstate water management objects;

the implementation of mutually acceptable mechanisms for the joint management of the transboundary water resources of the region that ensure a balance of the interests of the countries of Central Asia.
