Article 165. Legal implications of adoption
Family code of the Republic of Uzbekistan · Date: 30.04.1998 · In force
Adopted children shall be treated equally in all personal and property rights to the adoptive parent's own children.
Adopted children and their parents (relatives of the parents) lose their personal and property rights and duties with respect to each other.
In the interests of the child, personal non-property and property rights and duties of the child may be retained upon the request of the mother, if the adopter is a man, or upon the request of the father, if the adopter is a woman.
If one of the parents of the child to be adopted has died, then at the request of the deceased parent's parents (grandfather or grandmother) the personal non-property and property rights and duties of the child with respect to the deceased parent's relatives may be retained, if the interests of the child so require.
