Article 12. Powers of the Republican Commission on enhancing the role of women in society, gender equality, and family matters

The Republican Commission on enhancing the role of women in society, gender equality, and family matters:

participates in the implementation of state policy aimed at enhancing the role of women in society, achieving gender equality between women and men, strengthening the family, and protecting motherhood, fatherhood, and childhood;

contributes to achieving genuine equality between women and men in all spheres of public life and ensuring the principle of non-discrimination based on sex when promoting individuals to leadership positions in public service;

carticipates in the development and implementation of state programs, national action plans, and strategies in the field of ensuring equal rights and opportunities for women and men;

studies the current state of work on ensuring gender equality, the rights and legitimate interests of women, critically analyzes existing problems, and takes measures to eliminate them;

takes measures for the social and legal support of women, and the increase of women's socio-economic and socio-political activity on an equal basis with men;

coordinates the activities of state bodies aimed at achieving equal rights and opportunities for women and men in all spheres of public life;

develops proposals for the establishment of specialized institutions for the protection of the rights and provision of assistance to persons who are in difficult life situations due to direct or indirect discrimination based on sex;

submits proposals to the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the adoption and abolition of temporary special measures to ensure the implementation of gender policy;

carries out control over the execution of legislation on guarantees of equal rights and opportunities for women and men;

carries out the acceptance, review, and analysis of applications from physical and legal persons concerning issues of ensuring equal rights and opportunities for women and men, and takes measures to restore violated rights;

approves the plan for conducting the gender audit and determines the methodology for conducting the gender audit;

carries out cooperation with international organizations and relevant bodies of foreign countries on ensuring equal rights and opportunities for women and men and complying with international standards in this area;
