On introducing amendments and additions to the Law “On the state language of the Republic of Uzbekistan” (167-I-son) · Date: 21.12.1995 · In force

The legal foundations for the use of the Uzbek language as the state language in the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan are defined by this Law and other legislative acts.

Matters relating to the functioning of the language in the Republic of Karakalpakstan are regulated by the legislation of the Republic of Karakalpakstan.

This Law does not regulate the use of languages in everyday life, private communication, or in the performance of religious practices and rituals.

Citizens have the right to choose the language of interethnic communication at their own discretion.
