Article 40. Powers of the Inter-District, District, City Court for Civil Cases, District, City Court for Criminal Cases, Inter-District, District, City Economic Court

The inter-district, district, city court for civil cases shall consider civil cases and cases of administrative offenses referred by law to its competence.

A district, city court on criminal cases shall consider criminal cases and cases on administrative offenses, as well as petitions on applying the measure of restraint in the form of detention or house arrest or extending the term of detention or house arrest, on suspending the validity of a passport (travel document), on temporary restriction of the right to exit from the Republic of Uzbekistan, on removal of an accused from office, on placing a person in a medical institution or extending the term of stay of an accused in a medical institution, on exhumation of a corpse, on seizure of postal and telegraphic shipments, on conducting a search, on wiretapping of conversations conducted through telephones and other telecommunication devices, and obtaining information transmitted through them, on seizure of property, on release of a convict from punishment on the basis of an amnesty act, and other cases included in the scope of its powers by law.

The inter-district, district, city economic court shall consider disputes arising from civil law relations between economic entities, and corporate disputes, as well as cases of administrative offenses referred by law to its competence.
