Article 226. Procedure for consideration of applications for change of surname, first name, and patronymic

Family code of the Republic of Uzbekistan · Date: 30.04.1998 · In force

Consideration of applications for a change of surname, first name, patronymic is carried out by the civil registration authority, regardless of the place of registration at the place of permanent residence or temporary stay of the applicant upon reaching the age of sixteen.

An opinion on a change of surname, first name, or patronymic may be issued only after an appropriate check by Internal Affairs bodies.

The refusal of the civil registry body to change the surname, first name, or patronymic may be appealed in court.
