Article 169. Grounds for the annulment of adoption

Family code of the Republic of Uzbekistan · Date: 30.04.1998 · In force

Adoption shall be subject to annulment if the adoptive parents:

evade their duties or fail to perform them properly;

abuse their parental rights;

are abusive to the adopted children;

are chronic alcoholics or drug addicts.

Annulment of adoption upon the adoptee's attaining of majority shall be allowed if the adoptee's behaviour affects the honour and dignity of the adoptive parents or threatens their lives or health.

The court shall be entitled to also cancel the adoption of a child on other grounds in the interests of the child, taking into account the child's opinion.
